Yumtastic! was officially born July 4th, 2009. Initially the idea was started as concept when one of the co-founders of the blog, Felix, went on exchange to Kansai Gaidai, Osaka, Japan in Spring 2008. There he met many wonderful friends and people, but also at the same time taught many of his friends how to cook, and frequently had awesome dinner parties/conversations about life and such at Seminar House 2. Before he left, he promised to start some sort of thing to teach people how to cook, and share his love and passion of food. Looking at a way to share his passion and knowledge with his friends and people that want to learn/appreciate food, the blog was born.
Fusing “yummy” and “fantastic”, the name was coined by Marcus in a brainstorming session on MSN, and was definitely one of the catchiest ones that we liked! After a year of being an idea, Yumtastic is now materialized and onwards to become one the the best food blogs on the internet.
The Editors
Felix
For almost as long as he remembers, he’s been involved with food. Learning how to cook at the young age of 5, Felix never really got too excited about cooking as it was just another chore. Before exchange, it was a skill that he definitely took for granted. But then while on exchange, he found out that a lot of people wanted to learn! Felix has set out on a mission to make Yumtastic! one of the best food blogs that the internet will ever see. There are plans for him to start a food related venture down the road right now, probably cafe’s of some sort, a modern posh chinese fusion restaurant, or even the most kick ass dessert/coffee place ever known to people.
When Felix is not looking at food porn, or making food, or eating out, or thinking about food… he reads a ton random articles that he finds on the internet. Mostly tech, design, web, and mostly photography. Check out Felix Chen Photography for a little portfolio of photography that he dabbles on his free time. Most of the time, Felix is probably napping, reading about everything, listening to music, being on the computer way too much, and always on the look out for trying new hobbies. One day… Felix aims to start up something awesome that will truly rock this world.

Hi, came across your blog looking for places to find South African food in Victoria – do you happen to know of any? My husband is from SA and it’s our mission to find some of his home food here in town. Am reading your review of Wild Saffron right now – I always wondered about that place – thanks for the post!
Hi Kathryn! Thanks for your question. I know of a few places around Victoria which might sell some South African favorites. I need to check up on one or two to see where they are located now and i’ll get right back to you on that.
